Processing Real Life Struggles: an Active Learning Excercise

1 Corinthians 10: 13 reminds us that we all face struggles and challenges to our faith.  And, while the specifics may change over time, the basics of the things faced by Christians have not changed that much through the generations.  This activity will help students think through how temptations play out in their real world and how they can deal with them as Christians.

  • As a group, come up with some of the things (trials, temptations, struggles, testing, etc.) that we face that challenge our faith. Make a list of as many as you can come up with as a group.
  • After you have completed your list, break the larger group up into smaller groups of 2 or 3 people.Assign each smaller group one of the items from the list. Ask them to come up with a real life scenario one might face.  Write it out with names for fictional people, etc.  Then read the scenario to the group.
  • Once each scenario is read ask the group to come up with how that scenario can be faithfully met and dealt with.
